Mark 7:24-30 – The Warrant of Faith
Jesus trip to Tyre and Sidon was a deliberate mission to the gentiles. Notice that this is the same region that God commanded Elijah to go to during the famine in 1 Kings 17.
In this story we need to pay attention to how the woman responds to Jesus. She recognizes Jesus as the Messiah a full chapter before Peter’s declaration.
- 1. She knows who Jesus is.
- 2. Jesus spoke according to the feelings of the Jews, but He was probably looking at the disciples when He spoke to the woman.
- 3. Mark indicates that Jesus tips the woman off to continue her request with His words.
The woman knew that she had no business asking for Jesus help, but she knows that she is talking to the Christ, the Messiah.
