ABOUT US

What We Believe

We exist to bring glory and honour to God by fulfilling the Great Commission as we live out the Great Commandment.

— Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 22:36-40

Bible

We believe that every word in the original writings of the Holy Scriptures is inspired of God and without error. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the foundation of the faith and practice of the Church.

— 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

God

We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are separate persons yet one God.

— Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19-20, John 1:1-3. 8:58, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Revelation 1:4-6

God the Father

We believe that God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe and all creation. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God as father is well spring and fountain of salvation, choosing His elect in Christ, before the foundation of the world.

Jesus Christ

We believe that the eternal Son of God became incarnate in the Lord Jesus Christ, being born of the virgin Mary and is truly God and truly man.

— John 1:1, 14, 18, 5:18, Philippians 2:6-11, Colossians 1:19, 2:9, 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 1:1-9, John 5:20

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Godhead, who regenerates, indwells, baptizes and seals all believers in Christ and fills those yielded to God

Matthew 28:19, John 3:3-7, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 2:12, 6:19, 12:13, Ephesians 2:22, 4:30, 5:18

Man

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but in Adam all mankind fell into sin with the result that all men are sinners, hopelessly sinful in themselves, apart from the grace of God.

Genesis 1:27, 9:6, Romans 3:23, 5:12, 8:6-7

Salvation

We believe that salvation is received by faith alone in Christ who became our propitiation before God, paying the debt that we could not pay, making the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. He rose again, defeating death, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.

— Acts 4:12; 13:38,39; 16:31; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 3:16; Romans 5:1

Justification

We believe that justification is God’s gracious and full acquittal of sinners who believe in Christ from all sin through the satisfaction that Christ has made, not for anything inherent in them or done by them, but on account of Christ’s active obedience to the law of God and passive obedience in His death for their righteousness by faith, which is a gift from God.

—Rom. 3:24-26, 4:5-8, 17-19, 25, 5:17, 8:30-32, Eph. 1:6-7, 2:7-10; 1 Cor. 1:30,31; Phil. 3:8,9; John 1:12, 10:28; Heb. 10:14; 1 Pet. 1:2,18,19; Isa. 53:5,6; 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal. 3:8; 1 Tim. 2:6; Col. 1:21,22; Titus 3:4-7; Matt. 6:12; 1 John 1:7,9; Ps. 89:31-33

Adoption

We believe that adoption is that by the grace of God, whereby those He justifies for the sake of His Son Jesus Christ enjoy adoption into His family and are given the privileges of being the children of God

— Eph. 1:5; Gal. 4:4-6; John 1:12; Rom. 8:15-17; 2 Cor. 6:18; Rev. 3:12; Eph. 2:18; Ps. 103:13; Prov. 14:26; 1 Pet. 5:7; Heb. 12:6; Isa. 54:8, 9; Lam. 3:31; Eph. 4:30; Heb. 1:14, 6:12

Sanctification

We believe that every believer has positional and is promised progressive and ultimate sanctification

— John 17:17; 1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 5:26,27; 1 Thessalonians 4:3,4; 5:23; Hebrews 10:10,14; 1 John 3:2

Assurance

We believe that all who are truly saved and are born of the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ are eternally secure in Him.  Though they may fall into temptation and sin, they will be renewed through repentance and kept by the power of God, through faith, to salvation.

— John 10:27-29; Romans 8:1; Ephesians 4:30; 2 Timothy 1:12

The Church

We believe that the church is composed of all believers and is the body and bride of Christ.  The church is an elect company of believers, baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body.  The local church is a group of believers voluntarily joined together to worship God with praise and thanksgiving and to glorify Jesus Christ through an aggressive effort to disciple others by the preaching of the Gospel and the exercise of spiritual gifts.  The regular offices of the church are overseers, pastors/elders, and deacons.

— Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 12:4,27; Ephesians 1:22,23; 5:24-30

Spiritual Gifts

We believe that the purposes for which the Spirit gives ministry gifts to believers is described in Ephesians 4:12-26.  God is sovereign in the bestowing of His gifts and not any one gift is given to all believers, although all believers have at least one gift.  When exercised, the gifts will be expressed within the limitations given in the scriptures.

— 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 14:23-40; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Hebrews 2:3,4; Ephesians 4: 12-26

Christian Life

We believe that Christians are called to a holy life of service and testimony in the power of the Holy Spirit, which service includes the propagation of the Gospel message to the whole world.  There is promised reward in heaven for faithfulness in such service

 Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:12-17; 2 Corinthians 5:9-10; 1 Peter 1:15,16

Ordinances

We believe that the scriptural ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are for all followers of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 8:12,36-38; 9:18; 10:47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

  • Baptism: Baptism is an obligation of every believer as a sign of their fellowship with Christ in His death and resurrection, and of the forgiveness of sins.  It properly follows intelligent profession of faith and is prerequisite to church membership.  The mode of baptism that most fully satisfies the usage of the word and its scriptural significance is immersion.
  • Lord’s Supper: The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of Jesus Christ to be administered with the elements of bread and wine and to be observed by His church until the end of the world.  It is in no sense a sacrifice but is designed to commemorate His death.  It is not to be partaken of unworthily nor without due preparation.

Second Coming

We believe that this present age will end with the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, first to receive His church unto Himself and then to establish the throne of David upon the earth and to reign in righteousness over it for a thousand years.

 2 Samuel 7:16; Psalm 72:7,8; Isaiah 9:6,7; Micah 5:2; Luke 1:32,33: John 14:1-3; Acts 1:10,11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 9:28; Titus 2:13

Marriage

We believe that marriage is to be between one man and one woman; neither is it lawful for any man to have more than one wife, nor for any woman to have more than one husband at the same time; neither is it lawful for a man to marry another man, nor for a woman to marry another woman.  Marriage is a gift and was ordained by God for the mutual help and comfort of husband and wife, for the increase of mankind with legitimate offspring, and the preventing of sexual immorality
