1 Corinthians 13:4-6 – Elder’s Notes

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 ESV
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant  (5) or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;  (6) it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.

In this chapter in 1 Corinthians, Paul talks about the way of love.  His argument is that anything done outside of Christ is worthless.  The theologian F.B. Meyer wrote: “Jesus sits for His portrait in these glowing sentences, and of Him every clause is true.”  If This is the portrait of Christ’s love, then we as His followers should be striving to emulate this passage.
